Serving Endodontic Care to Grove City and Columbus

The talented and experienced staff of Columbus Family Dental Care, led by Dr. David Dixon, is proud to provide residents of Grove City and the surrounding Columbus, Ohio area with the highest quality endodontic care. Our practice has embraced the latest technology and procedures to ensure that your root canal is as pleasant as possible, helping to prevent the need for tooth extraction. We have dedicated this page to inform you of the process involved with endodontic therapy and how to properly care for your teeth after root canal treatment.

Endodontic Therapy Treatment

Endodontic, or root canal therapy is required when the soft tissue resting inside the tooth becomes damaged, infected, or inflamed. During this treatment, we will take a look at the soft tissue, or pulp as we refer to it in endodontics, and remove the parts that are damaged. We will then clean the rest of the canal and seal it to prevent further damage from occurring. If you are experiencing signs, it may be time for you to come in for a visit.

  • Tooth Pain
  • Gum Swelling
  • Prolonged Sensitivity to Hot or Cold
  • Tenderness to Touch

Instructions to Follow After Endodontic (Root Canal) Therapy (PDF)
After your visit with Dr. Dixon, it is important that you follow a few guidelines to ensure that the procedure goes according to plan. Until the anesthetic has worn off, you should not be consuming any foods of any kind. You should at least wait until any numbness has faded away before indulging into any food. Your next few meals should be very soft to ensure the temporary filling comes to a chalk-like hardness. If we have provided you with prescription to relieve you from pain, take as prescribed without the consumption of alcohol.
